What’s New
MinTech is now twelve years old! It is hard to believe that it has been that long since this weB LOG or BLOG got started. There have been lots of topics discussed, and more than a few gems and insights uncovered. Hopefully, you’ve found the answers to some of the issues that have confounded you in technical ministry. Or maybe it has just helped to discover that somebody else in the world is faced with the same perplexing issues in the gray area between the Church and Technology. Remember that Technology should never supplant Ministry; that would be like having the tail wag the dog. We use Technology in the Church, whether it be musical instruments or web sites, to further the spread of the Gospel! I firmly believe that Ministry can no longer ignore Technology. Given the scale at which today’s Churches operate, the Church has to depend on Technology to get the task done. (Gone are the days when we had an army of monks who did all of the paperwork using artistic, manual methods – i.e. quill pen in hand!) They served the Church well in the Middle Ages. The Church today needs to use the Technology that is readily available to increase its effectiveness in Ministry. That is both wisdom AND good stewardship!
I also believe that the Technology actually makes it easier to reach more people, in more places, with more of the Gospel than ever before in history! When the two are working in harmony, the ministry of the Church expands by leaps and bounds. When the two are at odds with each other, the ministry becomes dull and ineffective. Whether your Church is growing or declining, you still need to use some technology. Whether you’re on staff or a volunteer, you need to learn how to use the technology available. My prayer for you is that you find a way to be more effective in the place where God has called you to serve. And when you do, be sure to come back here and share your comments, so that others can gain from your insights.
