AI Tools for Bible Study

At first glance, you might think that AI Tools would have nothing to do with Bible Study. Artificial Intelligence Tools sound complex and technology focused, seemingly the opposite of the Bible. But AI Tools can be used in Bible Study. Consider the vivid imagery of the Bible in Revelation. How can words paint such a complex image of Heaven, the new Earth, and new Jerusalem? Most of us have trouble imagining such places. Books and movies have tried for decades to show them. AI Tools can help us generate images that capture the vivid imagery of the Revelation. You don’t have to be an artist to use them. You just use the word description in the Bible to generate an image. This can make it easier for people in the class to understand these ideas. As the old saying goes, an image is worth a 1,000 words. One image can say more than a 1,000 words of explanation. We are blessed that the Apostles, especially John the Beloved, wrote down what they saw, especially supernatural things. Our task is to communicate it to members of the congregation, so that they can better understand it.

To share an image, you generally need a screen, or a video display. This technology is available in many Churches, and even in classrooms for small group meetings. You generate the image, edit it further if need be, until it captures the image that you see in the Scripture. Then you display it for the group, and share your thoughts. This can be a powerful way to conduct a Bible study, for the images will resonate and add clarity to the ideas. Here is an example of an image that I created of the “Great Multitude before the throne of God in Heaven.”

When you look at this image, based on Revelation 20:11, you get a sense of the grand scale. The great multitude stands before the throne of God. There is a host of angels flying above. And there are more saints seated behind God’s throne and in the wings. Heaven is lit up with the Glory of God. It is a Great Multitude in Heaven, and we will all get to see it.
